About us
Vigil MarketScanner
A used-car market that clears in minutes, and a small team in Dallas–Fort Worth building the tool for it.
The problem
A used-car market that clears faster than anyone can watch it.
A private-party car priced meaningfully below its market gets its first dealer message within minutes of going up. Not hours. Minutes.
That single fact breaks how almost everyone shops. Saved searches were designed for a market that moved in days — they batch, they digest, they email you at a polite hour. By the time one lands, the listing that mattered has three messages on it and a deposit pending.
So the people who actually win at this do it manually. They keep tabs open. They refresh at red lights. They check again before bed. It works, and it costs them their evenings, and it still misses most of the market because no one can watch ten metros at once.
The second problem is harder. Even when you find a car quickly, you have to answer is this actually a good price? — and the honest answer usually requires comps you do not have, for a trim you are not sure about, in a market you are guessing at. Book values describe a national average. They do not describe what your city is asking this week.
What we do about it
Three positions we have committed to.
We run our own scanner
No third-party data vendor sits between us and the market. We read public listing pages the same way your browser does — logged out, no account of yours involved — every few minutes, across every zone our subscribers have drawn. When the market moves, we see it move.
We built our own index
MVI — the Market Value Index — is assembled from every car we have scanned in your market: asking prices, price cuts, and how quickly each one actually left the board. It describes your city, not a national average. It is an estimate of what your market is asking, and we say so on every listing.
We would rather say nothing than guess
Below ten solid comparables we withhold the grade and show UNRATED. A number with no evidence behind it is worse than no number, because you would act on it. Every sticker prints its comp count and range so you can tell a confident read from a thin one.
Vigil AI Technology
Who is building it.
MarketScanner is the first product from Vigil AI Technology, a small independent company based in Dallas–Fort Worth. We are not venture-backed and we do not sell your data. The subscription is the business model, which is the only arrangement where our incentive and yours point the same direction.
DFW is where we build and test, and it is the market our comps are deepest in — but you pick your own center point and radius, so it runs anywhere in the United States.
We answer our own email. If something is wrong, or the index is off on a car you know well, tell us — that feedback is genuinely how the scoring gets better.
Independent
Not affiliated with Facebook, Marketplace or Craigslist. Not a reseller of anyone else’s feed. Not Manheim MMR.
Honest about limits
MVI is an estimate, not an appraisal. We publish the comp count behind every grade and withhold the grade when the evidence is thin.
